NYCxDESIGN 2024

NYCxDESIGN, an internationally renowned annual design festival that showcases the immense talent and diversity of the city’s designers, makers, and manufacturers is back for the 12th edition.

Join Camron for an inspiring week of launches, openings and activations all celebrating design, a core element to New York City’s identity and creative DNA.

DWR

 

May 18 – September 2 | East 57th Street Studio 957 3rd Ave New York City, 10022

The Fortune Chair by JUMBO for Heller will launch exclusively at DWR and Heller during NYCxDESIGN. In celebration of the launch, DWR and Heller have collaborated on a mini exhibit at DWR’s East 57th Street Studio. A retrospective featuring iconic pieces from Heller’s portfolio will be on-display with a spotlight on the Fortune Chair and its design process. The exhibit will be open to the public on May 18th and will stay on view throughout Summer.

Calico Wallpaper

 

May 16 – May 24 | 57 Lispenard Street, New York, New York, 10013

On display at the Calico Wallpaper showroom will be the brand’s newest collection, Memoir by PELLE. Jean and Oliver Pelle, founders of PELLE, present their first-ever collection with Calico Wallpaper inspired by the rich textures of the South Korean landscape cultivated by Jean’s childhood memories. 

BONACINA

 

May 16 – September 15 | E.R. Butler & Co, 55 Prince St. New York

Bonacina is presenting a temporary store at E.R. Butler Soho (55 Prince Street), from May 16 until September 15.  The collaboration between Bonacina and Butler stems from the two brands’ shared commitment to artisanal excellent and uncompromising quality. They share a passion for design and craftspeople at their finest levels. Fort Street Studio will also collaborate with Bonacina supporting the exhibition with a selection of luxury hand-knotted carpets from their collection. Bonacina’s takeover of E.R. Butler will include a carefully curated selection of the finest pieces by Bonacina from the brand’s three collections: Décor, Contemporary and Grandi Maestri (Great Masters).

FARROW & BALL

 

May 15 | Yann Nury’s La Résidence (132 Crosby Street, 12th Floor, New York, NY 10012)

Heritage paint and wallpaper maker Farrow & Ball is proud to reveal The Purnon Papers—a new wallpaper collection inspired by patterns unearthed at Château de Purnon, launching in June 2024. The Purnon Papers includes five designs ranging from dainty florals to ornate damasks, each available in five curated colourways. On May 15th, Farrow & Ball Colour Curator Joa Studholme will be hosting an exclusive preview of the new collection, where guests can explore the papers and witness the artistry of Yann Nury’s culinary team. By appointment only.

BLU DOT

 

May 16 – June 30 | Blu Dot’s Nomad store (79 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10016) and Blu Dot’s Upper East Side Store (715 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10022)

Blu Dot, a leading modern furnishings brand, is pleased to announce ART MODE – a new collection of artwork in partnership with LAND Gallery & Studio, NIAD Art Center, and SAGE Studio & Gallery — three nonprofit art organizations that support artists with developmental disabilities. For this year’s NYCxDESIGN, Blu Dot invites visitors into their NoMad and Upper East Side stores to explore and purchase the new artwork collection, featuring original designs from 14 artists across the three studios, with 100% of the profits going directly back to the studios and the artists.

Herman Miller

 

May 21 – May 23 | 251 Park Ave South, New York, New York, 10010

To celebrate the release of the archival Hot Dog Picnic Poster, Herman Miller’s NYC store will transform into ‘Picnic on Park’ from May 21-23. The 3-day pop-up will pay homage to Herman Miller’s annual company picnics throughout the 1970s and 80s – a beloved tradition that inspired the 1973 Hot Dog Picnic Poster along with a series of 19 other graphic artworks depicting quintessential American summer potluck items, created by in-house graphic designer Steve Frykholm to promote the event each year. Guests will enjoy a first look at the Hot Dog Picnic Poster, collectible takeaways, and a bespoke cart serving up traditional hot dogs from 12-2 PM daily.

MUJI

 

May 16 – June 12 | 20 Hudson Yards, Level 4, New York, NY 10001

Japanese lifestyle brand MUJI will bring the second iteration of its rotating “MUJI IS” exhibition series to NYCxDESIGN this year. Located at Hudson Yards, MUJI IS: Behind the ‘Wa-Ke’ is an immersive installation that celebrates the work of copywriter Miyuki Tokunaga, who has supervised the brand’s Copywriting Atelier since 2001. The installation will take visitors on a journey through large-scale versions of the iconic MUJI tags, spotlighting the brand’s unique language and product narratives as shaped by Tokunaga. The exhibition will run from May 16th through June 12th, and NYCxDESIGN will mark its US debut. 

Artemide

 

May 21 | 46 Greene Street, New York, NY 10013

This year during NYCxDESIGN, Artemide will present two iconic lighting projects at its SoHo Flagship (46 Greene Street) from May 16 through May 23. On view will be “Discovery Dialogue” the latest project by Ernesto Gismondi, a concept of how light can be interpreted through technological research, optoelectronic expertise, design culture and production know-how,  as well as “Wish You Were Here” a project by Carolina Gismondi which brings the Discovery patented optical principle to a smaller dimension, beyond the two-dimensional. The two installations will be joined by a celebration of the Vine Light Collection by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, a pure and balanced line of lights which presents a minimalist aesthetic with a harmony between different materials, weights, light quality, precision of movement, and functionality.

Mercer Street ’Block Party’

 

May 17 | Various showrooms and galleries on Mercer Street, between Grand and Canal

In celebration of this year’s NYCxDESIGN, the second iteration of The Mercer Street Block Party will be hosted by top showrooms  in SOHO. Brands such as BDDW, Bocci, Calico Wallpaper, Hem, Henrybuilt, Kasthall, Orior, Roll&Hill, and Stellarworks will be hosting guests to their showrooms to showcase new collections and launches.
