Calico Wallpaper

May 18 – 25, 57 Lispenard St, New York, NY 10013

Calico Wallpaper presents a collaboration with guest designer Jason Miller, founder of Jason Miller Studio and Roll & Hill. Verdure brings nature indoors with an immersive design of abstracted botanical shapes that create the effect of a living, textural surface, crafted from intricate layers of hand-painted elements. The motifs draw inspiration from the Northern California coast where seaside cliffs meet redwood forests.

OMET POP-UP EXHIBITION

May 14 – May 20, 345 Broome St, New York, NY 10013

Celebrate the launch of OMET, an Austin, TX-based gallery that connects discerning design enthusiasts with holistic services–architecture, interiors, and furnishings–honoring rich, Mexican heritage. The OMET collection of home furnishings celebrates Latin American designers, and every piece tells a story. Through its expert curation by celebrated architect Lorena Vieyra, high quality, and personal approach, OMET serves as a bridge between conscious buyers and quality artisans in Mexico.

DWR

May 18-25, 10AM to 6PM, 150 Greene St, Ground Floor. New York, NY 10012

Design Within Reach (DWR), the resource for modern living, partners with Knoll Textiles to showcase the Nick Cave Collection in celebration of NYCxDESIGN. On display at DWR’s Greene Street location will be 12 limited-edition Knoll furniture pieces upholstered in the collection designed and signed by Nick Cave. The pieces will be auctioned online, with proceeds supporting Cave’s charity, the Facility Foundation.

‘MUJI IS’ Exhibition

May 18 – June 4, Hudson Yards on Level 4, 20 Hudson Yards, New York, NY 10001

MUJI brings its MUJI IS Exhibition to New York to coincide with NYCxDESIGN. Take “a walk in the forest of verbs“ with MUJI IS, inspired by the brand’s book under the same name. Visitors will go on a journey through MUJI’s design ethos and product archives from the last four decades in a forest-like experiential installation. Product archives are displayed according to the motives behind each product’s development, which is categorized by 15 key verbs, displayed along with their verb categories like Totonoeru (organize) and Ikasu (utilize).

Herman Miller

May 18 – 21, 10AM – 6PM, 251 Park Ave South,
New York, 10010

To celebrate 100 years of Herman Miller, the brand is providing a rare opportunity to peek into— and even perhaps own a piece of—its archives. Visitors will be able to purchase unique pieces deaccessioned from Herman Miller’s archives, in addition to hard-to-find collectables curated by New York’s Intramural Shop. The flagship store will also offer new and limited-edition products.

ARTEMIDE

May 22 – 25, 46 Greene St, New York, NY 10013

To celebrate the launch of Vine Light, Artemide will have the collection on display at their Soho store, located at 46 Green Street. Vine Light is a pure and balanced line that reaches great freedom of movement with only two joints, leaving users free to define their own light with a simple gesture. Its minimalist presence creates a perfect balance among different materials, weights, light quality, precision of movement and functionality. Vine Light translates technological complexity into simplicity and freedom.

ATELIER DE TROUPE

May 18 – 24, 26 Mercer St, New York, NY, 10013

LA-based design studio Atelier de Troupe’s 2023 L’Exposition à New York will celebrate the launch of Pedregal – a new line of furniture and lighting for the US market. The pop-up installation at 26 Mercer Street will exhibit these introductions within a space that reimagines the Studio’s Brutalist and Art-Deco inspired aesthetics with influence from Mexican Architect Luis Barragán, by artfully mingling architectural forms with natural materials.

HEM

For NYCxDesign, Hem’s collectibles platform Hem X has worked with Modern Design Review to tap into the creative minds of six emerging international designers to preview PROPS, an eclectic and original collection of stools. Modern Design Review invited the designers to use the typology of a stool as a blank canvas upon which to express the key characteristics of their practice.

KNOLL

Knoll will kick off Womb Chair 75th Anniversary celebrations during NYCxDesign with a limited-engagement exhibit that tells the story of the Womb Chair from inception—the partnership between Saarinen and Knoll—to fabrication and ultimately, to timelessness, and demonstrates the staying power of original design. The Womb Chair 75th Anniversary exhibit will be available for viewing beginning Tuesday, May 23 through Friday, June 30, by appointment only.

Mercer Street ’Block Party’

Join Orior, Bocci, Roll + Hill, Calico Wallpaper, Stellarworks, HenryBuilt and Atelier de Troupe as they open their doors to celebrate design and debut new collections with food, drink and entertainment
