New York in May is a cultural feast with NYCxDesign and Frieze coinciding, and audiences descending on the city for talks to hotel installations, launches to dinners.

CALICO WALLPAPER

‘Luminous’ is a new collection created in collaboration with designer and architect Suchi Reddy. Presented as an immersive installation in Calico’s showroom, ’Luminous‘ invites visitors to move through evolving environments of light and tone, exploring how light, color, and neuroaesthetics shape perception, mood, and emotional experience through six atmospheric wallpaper designs.

LUMENS

The luxury online design and home decor retailer collaborates with Design Hotels to present ‘The New York Edit’ during NYCxDesign, a public exhibition of collectible work by New York-based designers at the design-forward SoHo hotel 11 Howard. Curated by Milan-based creative company Simple Flair, the exhibition is driven by a shared vision to spotlight the next generation of New York’s creative talent, centered on the concept of lighting as both a medium and a narrative device. Featured designers from Lumens’ portfolio range from Brooklyn institutions to newer voices working across lighting, ceramics, and objects, including In Common With, Roll & Hill, SIN, Rosie Li Studio, and Forma Rosa Studio.

MUJI

The Japanese lifestyle brand invites visitors to experience “ReMUJI: Koi Continuum by Reiko Sudo & Adrien Gardère,” an immersive installation making its U.S. debut during NYCxDESIGN. Created by textile designer Reiko Sudo and exhibition designer Adrien Gardère, the installation highlights the brand’s long-standing commitment to thoughtful manufacturing and circular design.

AUDO

In the heart of Tribeca, Audo Copenhagen unveils Audo House New York: a new concept space and creative hub, the brand’s first Audo House outside of Scandinavia. More than a traditional showroom, the space introduces a new archetype for the design environment – one that is evolving. During Design Week, the space will also host a daily WatchHouse coffee pop-up, serving cold brew, pour over, and an assortment of pastries.

UNS

To mark its first completed museum project in the United States, and the opening of the first US office in Austin, TX, UNS (formerly UNStudio) will host a moderated discussion in partnership with Dezeen. The event will highlight UNS’s Dutch design approach, as well as its growing body of work and expanding presence in the US market. The panel will feature a conversation between US Dezeen editor Ben Dreith, UNS Founder and Principal Architect Ben van Berkel, and a representative from The Jewish Museum. Together, they will explore UNS’s approach to designing cultural projects, its European perspective within a US context, and the broader evolution of cultural institutions.
