Soho-based Scream Gallery provided the perfect setting for showcasing the full range of Technology Will Save Us’ DIY Gadget kits for children which will be available for the Christmas season. From Electro Dough to DIY Gamers and the BBC Micro:Bit, the event allowed guests to get hands on and experience the playful kits.

The bright, open gallery was transformed into a colourful technology space where each kit was presented on a custom workshop-style table in the centre of the room, showcasing the products in action alongside their new season package designs. Stationed in the corner, the Technology Will Save Us team were hard at work helping the children learn conductivity with Electro Dough and build Synth and Gamer Kits.

With the successful launch of the BBC Micro:Bit (a pocket-sized, code-able “minicomputer” that will be delivered to one million Year Seven students across the UK in October), in July Technology Will Save Us was excited to demonstrate how the Micro:Bit can be used with their kits to play Electro Dough basketball, or make an DIY speaker air guitar.

With guests of all ages (from five years old) the atmosphere throughout the day was fun and light-hearted with adults enjoying learning how to interact with the kits as much as the young charges they brought with them.

A selection of delicious Portuguese custard tarts were available throughout the day alongside Shoreditch Grind’s perfectly brewed coffees in the morning and espresso martinis in the evening.
